First let me offer heartfelt gratitude and commiseration for all of our team members, Curatorial, Host/Docent and Garden Guardians, that persevered through the appalling conditions of summer heat and unhealthful air quality of these past few weeks. We have not endured a summer like this one, and I dare say we are not interested in repeating the experience. You have all done a marvelous job in serving our visitors and keeping the Collection in the best condition possible under the circumstances. Having said that we all understand that the summer has had its way with the Collection assets (bonsai) and the landscaping of the bonsai exhibit area. Now that the mornings are becoming wonderful again, and we can actually enjoy being outdoors, we have our work cut out for us to repair and replenish the landscaping and address concerns with the damage done to the bonsai themselves.
